With the number of “blue mailboxes” on street corners
dropping, what else is next? Phone booths are being eliminated and now
collection boxes? In 2000 there were close to 400,000 blue collection boxes on
city sidewalks and corners, there are now 160,000. With more people sending
emails, paying bills electronically and even receiving coupons online, the need
for mail is becoming less and less. If the volume is low the collection box is
removed, what else is next with technology always changing?
